Rick Boni

Rick studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and the Columbus College of Art and Design, pursuing a career in graphic art before discovering his passion for chainsaw carving. Rick and his twin brother Randy have been carving for over two decades. In that time, Rick has carved at and judged events and competitions across the United States and Europe. He was invited to teach chainsaw carving in Japan. He is perhaps most renowned for co-founding the Ridgway Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous—the largest chainsaw carving event in the world—which takes place every February in his hometown of Ridgway, Pennsylvania. He has been featured on TV, radio, and in many publications. In addition to chainsaw carving, Rick is a skilled painter and poet and enjoys writing music and lyrics. In 2005, he founded the Appalachian Arts Studio, which is a hands-on learning art facility. Although he is quiet by nature—his creativity is at full volume.
